George Pop Darby Loving Grandfather New Iberia- Memorial services will be held for George Darby, age 74, Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at David Funeral Home of New Iberia. A native of New Iberia and resident of Franklin, Mr. Darby passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 8:15AM at his residence. Survivors include his sons, Vick H. Dowdy of Jeanerette; Ned Dowdy of New Iberia; daughters, Helen LeBlanc and her husband Louis of Jeanerette; Terry Dowdy of New Iberia; grandchildren, Goldie Puthanperikal and husband Paul, Shelia Deroun and husband Kirby, Katrina Boutte, Crystal LeBlanc and Kayla LeBlanc, his brothers, Lester Darby and wife Iris, AJ Darby, Allen Darby and wife Brenda, and Larry Darby, all of New Iberia; sisters, Edal Girouard of New Iberia; Bessie Arcement and huband Bobby of New Iberia; Gale Chastant of Loreauville; and Daisy Darby of Erath; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Loston Darby, his parents, Clarence Darby, Sr. and Lillie Romero Darby, his brothers, Charles Darby, Jerry Darby, Clarence Darby, Jr. and his sister, Betty Darby Harry.
