Lester J. Lasseigne

Lydia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Lester J. Tweet Lasseigne, Age 88, at 3:00 PM Wednesday March 25, 2009, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia with Father Donovan Labbe officiating. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Mausoleum in Patoutville. Visitation will be Tuesday March 24, 2009 from 3:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume Wednesday from 8:00AM until time of service. Readers for the funeral mass will be Hayley Delahoussaye and Stacie Burke.

A native of Weeks Island and longtime resident of Lydia Mr. Lasseigne died Saturday March 21, 2009 at 9:05PM in a local health care facility.

Mr. Lasseigne retired from Morton Salt at Weeks Island as a foreman after 37 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 365 of Lydia for 60 years. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the V.F. W. Post 1982 Honor Guard. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and playing cards.

Survivors include his son, Tras Lasseigne and wife Karen of New Iberia, grandchildren, Brandi L. Dore and husband Allan of Lydia and Brennan Lasseigne of New Iberia, great grandson, Maddox Dore of Lydia, brother; Earl Lasseigne and his wife Winnie of Lydia and his sisters Marguerite Hebert and her husband Dickie, and Mary Lynn Landry both of Lydia; Sister in Laws, Laurence Lasseigne and Una Lasseigne both of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Howard Lasseigne, his parents, Louis Lasseigne and Ora Boudreaux Lasseigne; his sister, Marion Broussard; his brothers, Theophile Lasseigne and Freddie Lasseigne and his brother in law, Norman Landry.

Pallbearers will be Brennan Lasseigne, Allan Dore, Jeff Jolet, Lynn Broussard, Bryan Lasseigne, and Tom Genest. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandi Dore and Maddox Dore.
