John "Boyd" Porter

Abbeville " A Mass of Christian Burial for John Boyd Porter, 88, will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at St Theresa Catholic Church with Fr. Kenneth Mayne officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 from 11:00AM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday. May 20, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. A native of Theall and resident of Abbeville Mr. Porter died at 6:40PM on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Abbeville General Hospital. He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Coast Guard. Mr. Boyd was known for enjoyment of fishing and playing cards. He was also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by a son, Lynn Porter and his wife Hilda of Abbeville; a daughter, Darlene Porter of Abbeville; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Onis J. and Edna Choate Porter; a son, Wayne Porter; a daughter, Dianne Porter; a step daughter, Linda Roy; a sister, Charleen Bourgue; and Azemae Bye Romero. Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Coleman, Cory Boudreaux, Lynn Porter, Boyd Porter, David Bourque, and Zack Coleman. David Funeral Home of Abbeville at 2600 Charity St. (337)893-3777 will be handling the arrangements.
