New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Morris J. Sonny Boy Gachassin, Sr. Age 72, at 1:30PM Thursday June 24, 2010 at David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Mark Derise officiating. A private inurnment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Wednesday June 23, 2010 from 4:00PM until 10:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Thursday from 8:00AM until service time. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia Mr. Gachassin died Tuesday June 22, 2010 at 1:35PM in a New Iberia health care facility. He retired from the oilfield where he worked as a motorman. Mr. Gachassin enjoyed caring for his family especially his grandchildren. He was a also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his children, Mark A. Gachassin and Krissa, Michael J. Gachassin, Morris J. Gachassin Jr. and wife Amy, Bill L. Gachassin and Samantha G. Lenoir and husband Kyle; one brother, Donald Gachassin Sr.; grandchildren, Courtney M. Dupuy, Jordan M., Janna L., Joshua M., Jakob L., Krystian M. and Austin J. Gachassin, Kimberly M. and Sabrina L. Lenoir all of New Iberia He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Lasseigne Gachassin; parents, William Bill and Erita Landry Gachassin and a brother, Ben Gachassin. Pallbearers will be Mark, Morris Jr., Bill, Donald and Jordon Gachassin and Kyle Lenoir. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin, Jakob, Joshua, Krystian and Janna Gachassin and Kimberly and Sabrina Lenoir. David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter St. New Iberia, La.
