New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Harry McMullen Jr. the former Edith Mae Bales, Age 91, at 11:00AM Saturday June12, 2010 at David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Bullock officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00AM until service time. A native of Sanford, Florida and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. McMullen died Wednesday June 9, 2010 at 6:50PM at her residence in New Iberia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Iberia. Edith was a 45 year member of the Order of the Eastern Stars. She served Wisteria Chapter #61 of New Iberia as its Worthy Matron with her husband H.C. Mac as the Worthy Patron in 1969, 1970, 1986 and 1993. She also served as Worthy Matron with Woodrow White as her Worthy Patron in 1998 and 1999. In addition to leading the organization for many years, she served in many other offices, wherever she was needed. Edith, or Edie as Joy Rita Dugas and her family called her, enjoyed camping with Mac in their Silver Streak as much as possible. Along with Sis and Ed Frick, Elvira Bobbitt, Don and Joy Rita Dugas and their children, they planned a trip every summer and as much as possible during the year. She loved Joys children as her own. When camping, she collected salt and pepper shakers from her travels. In addition, she was an avid game player. She was always ready to play dominoes, tri-ominos, rummicub and various card games at the drop of a hat, especially with the children. She knew all the rules by heart. Elvira and the Dugas family will never forget Edie or Aunt Edie as the children called her. She also enjoyed crocheting and embroidering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the First United Methodist, 119 Jefferson St., New Iberia, La. 70560 to The Methodist Childrens Home in Ruston, La. Mrs. McMullen is survived by her nephew, Clarence Knapp and wife Ada of Miramar, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Mac McMullen Jr. and her parents, Charles Francis and Daisy Walker Bales. Pallbearers will be Ralph Lee, Burton Cestia III, Jim Wyche, Paul Fontenot, Dr. Warren Langford and Jimmy Poisso. The family would especially like to thank her caregivers, Remelda Nady, Trula Coleman, Gladys Dorsey, Dorothy Dot Davis, Elva Ford, Bianca Archon, Hospice of Acadiana and AAA Home Health for the loving care given to Ms. Edith.
