Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Raoul Rogers, Sr., the former Olive Ewing, 88, on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Deacon Theo Landry officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. A native of Franklin and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Rogers died on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 11:45 AM in a New Iberia hospital. She was a homemaker who liked crocheting and quilting. She is survived by her sons, Raoul Rogers, Jr. and his wife Christine of New Iberia and Lonnie Rogers and his wife Carla of Waynesboro, MS; her step-son, Melvin Rogers and his wife Myra of Lydia; her sister, Odelle Lagrange of Franklin and her special granddaughter, Nellie R. Derouen and her husband Kim of Jeanerette. She was also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and a large number of step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raoul Rogers, Sr.; her parents, John and Leona Verret Ewing; her step-daughters, Joyce R. Thibodeaux and Julia R. Maturin; her sister, Genevive Trimble and her brother, Ervert Ewing. Pallbearers will be Jared, Cody and Ranal Rogers, Jason and Chad Thibodeaux and Scott David. Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Derouen, Scott Sanders, Colby Gibbens and Josh Chou. David Funeral Home of Jeanerette, 400 Provost St. (337) 276-5151 is in charge of arrangements.
