Essie Broussard

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Essie Fontenot Broussard, age 87, Friday, May 28, 2010 at 11:00AM at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Ronald Broussard and Deacon Raymond Derouen officiating. Interment will follow in St. Edwards Mausoleum. Visitation will be Friday, May 28, 2010 from 7:30AM until the time of service; with a recitation of a Rosary at 9:00AM.

A native of Mamou and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Broussard passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 at 6:45AM at her residence.

Survivors include her daughters, Myra Olivier and husband Alvin of Lafayette; Lynne Broussard of Denver, CO; her sons, Morris John Broussard and wife Beverly of San Fransisco, CA; Walter Broussard, Jr. and wife Patricia of Denver, CO; her sisters, Ella Cleveland of Galveston, TX; Laura Sutton of Oakland, CA; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Broussard was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Broussard, Sr., her parents, Oneil Fontenot, Jr. and Amy Jones Fontenot, her daughter, Catherine Buckner, sisters, Emily Batly and Ella Mae Bell-Persaul, brothers, Herbert Fontenot, Frederick Fontenot and Oneil Fontenot, Jr.

Serving as pallbearers will be Barry Olivier, Walter Broussard, Jr., Micheal Glapion, Micheal Broussard, Bryan Taylor and Ulysses Rideaux.
