Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Nicholas Poncho Anthony Curol, 20, will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Manny Fernandez officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 2:00PM until 10:00PM, with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, May 24, 2010 from 9:00AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. A native and resident of Erath, Nicholas passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 2:40PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was a loving son, brother, grandson and uncle who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, his grandparents and especially his brother Jonathan! Nicholas was a 2008 Erath High School graduate who excelled in track. Mr. Curol was and employee of Acadian Ambulance Service and a Volunteer Fire fighter for the Towns of Erath and Delcambre. Nicholas was attending the academy to attain his paramedic status. Poncho really enjoyed helping others and saving lives " riding 4-wheelers, hunting, mudding, working out daily, running track and in various races across the country. Poncho had a special knack for making anyone and everyone laugh! Nicholas will be sadly missed by numerous friends and family as well as his co-workers from Acadian Ambulance Service. He is survived by his parents, Everett and Charlene Verdin Curol, Jr of Erath; two brothers, Jonathan Curol and friend Emily of Erath, and Joey Verdin and his wife Fran of Franklin; sister Mandy Melancon and her fianc Rusty of St. Martinville; his nephew Peyton of St. Martinville and his special friend Hillary Stelly of Kaplan ; Maternal grandparents, Joseph and Dorothy Mae Verdin of Dulac; Paternal grandparents, Everett and Eleanor Collins Curol , Sr. of Delcambre; godmother, Erica Steen-Tierney of Erath, godfather, Englove Collins, Jr. of Lydia; godchild Bailey Trahan of Jacksonville, Florida; twelve aunts, nine uncles, eleven great aunts, and five great uncles. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Jerry Boquet. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Roy, Brock Michaud, Marcus Boutte, Garrett Thomas, Seth Bourque, and Casey White. Honorary pallbearers will be Shampaul Bourque, Spence Bourque, and Seth Nuby Comeaux.
