Douglas Erikson

Loreauville " Funeral services will be conducted for Douglas H. Erikson, 89, on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.

Born in Crowley, Mr. Erikson died on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 12:45 AM in a New Iberia hospital. He grew up on Pecan Island, attending elementary and high school in Pecan Island and upon graduation he enrolled at SLI now UL of Lafayette and earned a Business Degree. After graduation from SLI he enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After his honorable discharge from the U. S. Coast Guard, he began working at Trappeys Fine Foods and retired as Marketing Vice President after 44 years of employment. Growing up on Pecan Island he nutered his love for the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and woodworking. He was generous with family and charitable organizations within the community. He was a devoted Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville.

He is survived by his children, Elaine Erikson and her husband Bruce Cameron of River Ridge, LA, Russell Erikson and his finacee Tammy Boudoin of New Iberia, Errol Erikson and his wife Lee Ann and Joy Rita Erikson all of Loreauville and his grandson, Vanner Erikson and his fiancee Aly Breaux of Natchitoches, LA.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Lillian Judice Erikson; his parents, Louis Vanner Erikson and Azena Istre Erikson and his mother-in-law, Alice Durand Judice.

David Funeral Home of Loreauville, 118 Main St. (337) 229-8338 is in charge of arrangements.
