John Paul Clement

A native of Iowa,LA and resident of Abbeville, John passed away at 5:25PM on Friday, June 12, 2009 at his residence. He was surrounded by his loving family. John spent his working years in the oilfield as well as serving as a security guard. His life was filled with joy, enjoying every minute of it with his humor and helping nature. One of his favorite things to do was sit on his back porch and pass time while feeding and watching all of his many birds and squirrels. When he wasnt outside, you could find him watching his TV, usually western movies and boxing. His faith was strong, which he showed by praying a mass for the sick every single day of his life. Above all, his main purpose in life was to live for his family, which he did better than anything else.

He was survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Audrey Decoux Clement; daughter, Connie and her husband Lynn Goutierrez of Abbeville, daughter Debra and her husband Steve Bernard and his mother Effie of Abbeville , son Cardell Clement and his wife Nita of Erath; son Jamey Clement and his wife Laura of Delcambre; sister Bernice Broussard of Lake Charles; and his loving mother-in-law, Alma L. Hebert of Erath. He was also survived by his grandchildren; Jason Goutierrez and his wife Johnnie, Jody Touchet and husband Hampton, Brandon Clement, Amanda, Alyssa and Kyla Clement; his four great grandchildren Bailey and David Touchet, Kourtni and Samuel Goutierrez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evestie and Azalema Clement; granddaughter Kalli Nichole Clement; half-brother Dudley Clement and his wife Vergie and their son Sam; nephews Hal and Glen Broussard; and sister-in-law Joycelyn Schexnyder.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Bernard, Cardell Clement, Jamey Clement, Jason Goutierrez, Brandon Clement and Charles Toups. Hampton Touchet will be serving as a honorary pallbearer.

The family would also like to send a very special thanks to Dr. Miller, Dr. Gacassin, Dr. Michael Cain, Carmichaels, Deacon Davis, Father Blanda, the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, as well as all of the neighbors and friends that stood by the family in their time of need.
