Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial for Norman James Nunez, 66, will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Gayle Nunez officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May, 16, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum. Mr. Nunez a native of Erath and a resident of Lafayette died at 10:30PM on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer, and will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. Norman was a beloved husband and father who loved spending time in the country with his dog, and watching LSU football. He cherished his family and seemed to live his life through the eyes of his children. He was a good man and best friend to his son. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Carmen Baudoin Nunez of Lafayette and formerly of Maurice; a son, Todd A Nunez and his wife Yvonne Kern Nunez of Erath; a daughter, Dawn Nunez Isabell and her husband Dr. Gene Isabell, Jr. of Beaumont, TX; a twin sister, Brendalyn Pickett and her husband Kenneth Pickett of Huntsville, AL; a younger sister, Sherry Nunez Melancon and her husband John Melancon of Lafayette; an older brother, Fr. Gayle Nunez of Washington, LA; and five beautiful grandchildren that he was very proud of, Caleb and Olivia Nunez, Trey Ava, and Austin Isabell, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Curley Nunez and Ades Mae Broussard Nunez. Serving as pallbearers will be Caleb Nunez, Philip Nunez, Sonny Hebert, Kenneth Pickett, Ross Melancon, and Francis Baudoin.
