Abbeville-Funeral Services for Pastor Youmeller Campbell, 70, will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Lighthouse for Jesus Ministries with Dion Campbell officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at David Funeral Home of Abbeville from 7:30AM until 9:00AM, then will resume at Lighthouse for Jesus Ministries until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Pleasant Green Cemetery. Pastor Campbell, a native and resident of Abbeville, departed at 6:45AM on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at his residence. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He worked as a millwright at Bethlehem Steel Mill in Burns Harbor, IN for approximately 27 years. He was called to the ministry in 1989 and served as assistant pastor of Lighthouse Saints for Jesus Christ in Michigan City, IN. After retiring from Bethlehem Steel he moved to Louisiana and began pastoring Jacobs Ladder Ministries in Erath, LA. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 47 years, Mrs. Elizabeth Pillette Campbell of Abbeville; their three children, Dion Campbell and his wife LaRonda Campbell of Michigan City, IN, Andre Campbell (Paula) of Abbeville, and Summer Campbell (Dannie) of Abbeville. He is also survived by three sons, Edward Perro of Lafayette, Anthony Campbell of New York, NY, and Pasquinel Sanders of Kalamazoo, MI; three daughters, Janet Campbell Matthews of Atlanta, GA, Christine Hootman of Michigan City, IN, and Serenity Davenport (Nathaniel) of Abbeville; four sisters, Mattie McGinnis, Ann Marie Bolden, Bernice Broussard, and Trula Hawthorne; seven brothers, Oris Jones, Rudolph Campbell, Jr., Calvin Campbell, Larry Campbell, Joe Louis Campbell , and Allen Ray Campbell; twenty-six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Campbell, Sr. and Vernice Joiner Campbell; and a sister, Shirley Rockette.
