Lela Derouen Derouen

New Iberia- A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. Marcellus Catholic Church for Mrs. Thomas Marc DeRouen, the former, Lela DeRouen, age 95, with Fr. Donovan Labbe officiating. Musical selections will be rendered by Matt Crochet. Interment will follow in St. Marcellus Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday, July 5, 2010 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM with a recitation of a Rosary at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday July 6, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of service.

A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of Rynella for 43 years prior to moving to Azalea Estates Assisted Living Home in New Iberia , Mrs. DeRouen passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 9:01PM at her residence.

Mrs. DeRouen was a devout Catholic, dedicated wife, and loving mother. She valued her immediate and extended family and friends, and always enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee, hot biscuits, and a little song. She was a past member of the St. Marcellus Altar Society and the New Iberia Bandage Club.

Mrs. DeRouen is survived by her children, Patrick DeRouen and wife Carolyn of Denham Springs; Marcia Tittle of Dallas, TX; Madeleine Melton and husband John of Lafayette; Michele Meyer-Arendt and husband Klaus of Pensacola, FL; Sidney DeRouen and wife Rose of Alexandria; her grandchildren, Zachary DeRouen and wife Dawn of Baton Rouge; Megan Flaherty and husband Rory of Seattle, WA; Rita DeRouen of Columbia, SC; Camille Meyer-Arendt of Seattle, WA; Greta Meyer-Arendt of Pensacola, FL; Chloe DeRouen of Austin, TX; and Nicolas Meyer-Arendt of Pensacola, FL; her great-grandchildren, Jaron, Karina, Hannah and Isabel.

Mrs. DeRouen was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Marc DeRouen, her parents, Sidney L. DeRouen and Chloe Broussard DeRouen, her brothers, Leroy DeRouen and Carroll Chuchie DeRouen and her sister, Evelyn Claire LaBauve.

Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary DeRouen, Chad Broussard, Wayne DeRouen, Wynn DeRouen, Keith LaBauve and Ross Landry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joyce Crochet, R.L. Crochet, Donald Voorhies and Marcel Snub DeRouen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street Alexandria, VA 22311.
