George William Morgan Wright

Lafayette - Funeral Services for George William Morgan Wright, Sr., will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 11am at David Funeral Home in Lafayette. Visitations will be Friday, May 28, 2010 from 5pm to 9pm and Saturday, May 29, 2010 from 9am to 11am. A native of Crowley, LA and resident of New Iberia, LA George Wright passed away peacefully at 1:33pm, Tuesday, May 25, 2010. He was 74. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Neal Wright; two sons, George William Morgan Wright, Jr and wife Patti of Murfreesboro TN; Christopher Neal Wright of New Iberia and two daughters; Nina Wright Faucheaux and husband Grady of Baton Rouge and Cynthia Wright Shahkarami and husband Amir of Chicago, IL. He has eight grandchildren: Sean Shahkarami, Eric Shahkarami, Lance Faucheaux, Blake Faucheaux, Ashley Faucheaux, Patrick Wright, Elizabeth Wright and Mary Grace Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents George D. Wright, Jr. and Martha Redmond Wright. He was employed 44 years by State Farm Insurance as an agent in New Iberia for 19 of those years and an agency manager in Houma for 25 years. He was active in the Kiwanis Club in New Iberia and was the founding member of the Kiwanis Club in Houma. He was active for many years in the Boy Scouts of America and Terreanians Carnival Club in Houma. He was the founding member of the Eta Nu Chapter of Sigma Nu at USL in Lafayette in 1961. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957. He was a member of the Republician Trust and a Deligate to the 2008 Repuplician National Convention. He was a generous man and will be missed by many friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kiwanis Foundation, P.O. Box 9657, New Iberia, LA 70562; or Kiwanis Club of Houma, 121 Brinwood Circle, Houma, LA 70360. David Funeral Home, of Lafayette 316 Youngsville Highway (337) 837-9887, is in charge of arrangements.
