Abbeville " A Mass of Christian Burial for Miss Jane Guidry, 87, will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Maurice with Father Joe Breaux officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Saturday, May 30, 2009, beginning at 8:00AM until the time of Services, with a recitation of the rosary at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery. Miss Guidry passed away at 11:17AM on Monday, May 25, 2009 at her home in Abbeville. She was spiritually gifted for sewing and creating fashion clothing. Miss Guidry moved to Portland, Oregon where she became a master tailor of the clothing industrial. This was not her only interest, she had an eye for crocheting, knitting as well as cooking gourmet meals. She would always find time to care and sew for her family. She was a generous and giving person but she always put the Lord first in her life. Due to her fathers illness she returned to Abbeville permanently. Jane Guidry was a strong, independent, and very wise woman. She believed in keeping herself physically fit. Her activities included walking to church, grocery stores and town. Ms. Jane was a member of St. Joseph Society. She was a loving sister, and aunt. She is survived by sisters, Mary G. Wilturner of Ridge, LA, Marjorie G. Hardy and Annie G. Seals of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews, and relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Guidry; her mother, Mandy (Germaine) Dural; sisters Mable Mitchell and Julia Guidry; brothers Joseph Guidry, Henry Guidry, Matthew Guidry, Warren Guidry, and Clarence Guidry, Sr. Serving as pallbearers will be Minos G. Hardy, Jr., Troy D. Seals, Jerome C. Guidry; Craig J. Paris, Clarence Guidry, Jr., Dwight Seals, Brandon M. Guillory, Brian R. Guidry, and Crandall K. Griffin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Guidry, Claude J. Guidry, Dr. Matthew Guidry, Henry R. Griffin, Jr., and Ronnie Guidry. David Funeral Home of Abbeville, 2600 Charity Street, (337) 893-3777, will be handling the arrangements.
