A native of Adeline, longtime resident of Jeanerette and Lydia and current resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hebert retired from Shell Oil Company after 39 years of service. He was the former owner of Heberts tire repair and enjoyed trawling all of his life. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include four sons, Brad Hebert and wife Connie of Westboro, Massachusetts, Elmer Hebert Jr. and wife Mary of Lafayette, Jan Hebert and girlfriend Patricia and Norman Hebert and wife Mona all of Lydia; three daughters, Karen H. Saunier and companion Sterling of Youngsville, Maureen H. McKinney and husband Bill of Ogden, Utah and Lucia H. Duncan and husband Brooke of Avery Island; two sisters, Margaret Verrett of Jeanerette and Jeanette Greer of Huntsville, Alabama; 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite Telotta Hebert; parents, Clerville James and Rose Naquin Hebert; two brothers, Junius Paul Hebert and Emery J. Hebert Jr. and two sisters, Carrie H. Perez and Genevieve H. Chauvin.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Paul and Patrick Steve Saunier Jr., Michael Bonnet, Andrew, Scott Paul and Jonathan Michael Hebert and Brandon Avery and Stuart Helm Duncan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles, Matthew James, Christopher and Norman John Hebert II, Brent Louis Saunier, William McKinney III and Doug Gaspard.
The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the staff of Azalea Estates and his personal caregivers.
