New Iberia-Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Harold Reaux the former Rebecca Hebert, age 92, at 10:00 AM Tuesday August 10, 2010 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at Nativity Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday August 9, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 8:00 AM until service time. A resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Reaux died Saturday August 7, 2010 at 11:50 AM in a local health care facility. Rebecca was born and raised in Sorrel Louisiana. She graduated from St. Joseph School in Jeanerette as valedictorian of her class. She became a nurse at the original Dauterive Hospital under the guidance of Dr. Henry Dauterive. She later became a private duty nurse taking care of many patients. In 1951, Rebecca married Dr. Harold Reaux and together they started the Reaux Animal Hospital. She was instrumental in the foundation of Our Lady of Nativity Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, head director of religious education, a member of Our Lady of Sorrow Ministry, head of the Senior Citizens Luncheons, a volunteer at St. Francis Diner, and received the Bishops Medal Rebecca was very involved in scouting. She served as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years. She was well known for her delicious homemade Gold Brick candy. Survivors include her children, Dr. Andy Reaux, Tammy R Talley and husband Billy Talley all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Jennifer T. Lopresto and husband Michael and Emily Talley all of New Iberia and her great grandchildren, Anthony and Elia Lopresto also of New Iberia, sisters Mrs. Margie Borne of Franklin, Louisiana and Mrs. Mel Sikes of Jackson, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Harold Doc Reaux; her parents Ferdinand Hebert Sr. and Marie Olivier Hebert, sister Ruby Bodin; brother Ferdinand Hebert Jr. and grandson Lance Talley. Pallbearers will be Billy Talley, Errol Romo Romero, Keith Lutgring, Butch Sikes, Brian Hebert, and Ricky Romero. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church.
