New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Norman Joseph Porche, Sr, Age 84, at 11:00AM Tuesday June 16, 2009 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery in Jeanerette. Visitation will be Monday June 15, 2009 at David Funeral Home in New Iberia from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 8:00AM until service time. The American Flag will be presented to the family by members of the VFW Post 1982.
A native of Donaldsonville, longtime resident of Jeanerette and current resident of New Iberia Mr. Porche died Saturday June 13, 2009 in a local hospital. He was retired after 35 years as an insurance agent. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and cooking. He was a true outdoor person. He was also a veteran having served in the U.S. Army, Air Force and Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Deanna Landry Porche of New Iberia; five daughters, Susan P. Buteau and husband Eric and Witty Ann Porche, Angie P. Bonvillain and husband Drew and Cathy P. Freeman and fianc Tommy Frederick all of New Iberia and Karen Mouret and husband Boyd Jr. of Jeanerette; two sons, Norman J. Porche, Jr. and fianc Deneen Rosamond of St. Martinville and Schuylar Porch and wife Gwen of Jeanerette; two sisters, Marion Cumminale of Atlanta, Georgia and Helen Landry of New Orleans; 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son, Steven Porche; his parents, Harry and Mena Acosta Porche; two sisters, Mildred Braud and Jeanne Morrisey and two brothers, Harold and Wilbert Porche.
Pallbearers will be family members.
