New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Joy Rita Gachassin, Age 64, at 2:00PM Tuesday March 23, 2010 at David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Blaine Clement officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday March 23, 2010 from 10:00AM until service time with a Rosary being prayed at 11:00AM. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Miss Gachassin died Sunday March 21, 2010 at 2:56PM in a local health care facility. Survivors include four sisters, Katherine Ann Gachassin of Erath, Carmen Guidry and husband Clint and Georgie Lynn Segura all of New Iberia and Georgette Gachassin Blanchard and husband Tate of Cypress, Texas and one brother, Warren Paul Gachassin, Sr and wife Sandy of New Iberia. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Brunella Lajaunie Gachassin; paternal grandparents, Lewis and Azelda Gachassin; maternal grandparents, Sidney and Irene Richard Lajaunie and one brother Roger James Gachassin Sr. Pallbearers will be Warren Gachassin Sr., Warren Gachassin Jr., Tate Blanchard, Sr., Clint Guidry, Billy Emery and Jake Cuccia. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Gachassin, Jr., Josh Guidry, Tate Blanchard, Jr., Stanley Colley, Jacque Guidry, Jacob Guidry and Kenneth Segura. Special thanks to all of the staff and friends she had at Belle Teche Nursing Home, her physician Dr. Burt Bujard, the emergency staff at Iberia Medical Center and Jimmy Dupuy, paramedic.
