Walter "Pete" Landry, Sr.

Jeanerette " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Walter E. Pete Landry, Sr., Age 96, at 11:00AM Monday, May 4, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux and Deacon Theo Landry officiating. Interment will follow in St. Johns Mausoleum. Visitation will be Sunday May 3, 2009 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Monday from 8:00AM until service time. He died Friday May 1, 2009 at 8:00PM in a local health care facility. A native of Patoutville and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Landry was a retired sugarcane farmer. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, and a Retreat Master at Grand Coteau. Mr. Pete was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include, eight daughters, Marjorie LeJeune and husband Gerald Sr., Barbara Rogers, Margaret Rogers, Carolyn Daigle and husband Ira Jr., and Kay Landry all of Jeanerette, Mary Bruns and husband Michael and Janice Muffoletto of Broussard and Kathy Lege of Scott; two sons, Mark Landry and wife Brenda of New Iberia and Paul Landry of Nacogdoches, Texas, two sisters, Enola Guidry of Beaumont, Texas and Louella ODonnell of Jeanerette and a daughter-in-law Faye W. Landry of Jeanerette, 48 Grandchildren, 102 Great Grandchildren and 17 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Dorothy Rodriguez Landry; his parents, Alphonse and Odile Hebert Landry; one son, Walter J. Landry, Jr.; two brothers, Milton Landry Sr. and Elton Landry and one sister, Lillian Meyers; two grandchildren, Erika Mannina and Linda Boudoin and one great grandchild, Elliot Boudoin. Pallbearers will be Wally Landry, David LeJeune, Clint Daigle, Chris Muffoletto, Michael Mannina and Blake Lege. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark and Paul Landry.
