Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather

Loreauville- Funeral services will be conducted for Clarence J. Champagne, age 79, Friday, March 26, 2010 at 11:00AM at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux and Fr. Paul Onugebe officiating. Interment will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 9:00AM until 10:00PM with a recitation of a Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Friday, March 26, 2010 from 7:00AM until the time of service.

A native of Delcambre and a lifelong resident of Loreauville, Mr. Champagne passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 8:15AM at his residence. Mr. Champagne was born December 20, 1930. He worked as a young man in New Iberia, married to Nola Prados Champagne, he went into the Army eleven days after they were married. He stayed two years in the Army, came home and worked in a service station, doing mechanic work. In 1960, he was elected Loreauville Village Marshal. Mr. Champagne worked in the oilfield for a short period of time. He was also an insurance agent for a few years. Mr. Champagne then worked in a tire store doing mechanic work, when the shop closed down he returned to the insurance business. He lost his job in 1983 when the economy was down; so he worked for the Village of Loreauville as a policeman in 1986 and retired in 2000. He and Nola did a bit of traveling by car in the lower forty-eight states. Mr. Champagne enjoyed all the trips and the beautiful sights.

Mr. Champagne hopes that during his time on earth, he was able to help someone out, either by praying for them or maybe saying something to them that sent them on the straight and narrow path. He also asks for forgiveness of anyone he may have hurt in his lifetime.

Mr. Champagne is leaving behind his loving wife, Nola Prados Champagne of Loreauville; his three children, Mickey Champagne and wife Mary, Terry Champagne and wife Judy and Penny C. Landry and husband Mark, all of Loreauville; sister, Rhella C. Borres of New Iberia; grandchildren, Dawn Finley and husband Ben, Shalone Foco and husband Ross, Jeremy Champagne and friend Sarah, Malerie Landry and husband Seth, Brooke Champagne, Grant Champagne, Brandi Brown and husband Kipp, Blair OConnor and husband Kevin, Mark Landry II and Joseph Landry II, great-grandchildren, Christy Finley, Katie Finley, Stephanie Finley, Lucas OConnor and Ayden OConnor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laodis Chamapagne and Adorestine Friou Champagne, and his grandson, Mickey Champagne, Jr.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Champagne, Grant Champagne, Mark Landry II, Joseph Landry II, Ben Finley, Ross Foco, Seth Landry, Kipp Brown and Kevin OConnor.
