Verna Dore Gautreaux

January 30, 1925 — March 26, 2010

New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Clifton Gautreaux, Sr., the former Verna Dore, 85, on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 3:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ryan Derouen and Rev. Barbara Romero officiating. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Park Mausoleum on St. Jude Street.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 8:00 AM until time of services.

A native of Cade and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Gautreaux died on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 1:40 PM in an Abbeville hospital. Verna loved gardening, ceramics and was a wonderful cook for her family and friends. Her door was always open for coffee and meals to anyone.

She is survived by her sons, Clifton Gautreaux, Jr. and his wife Jan of Erath and Elton Gautreaux, Sr. and his wife Loretta of Marrero; her daughter, Elizabeth Riddle and her husband Bill of New Iberia; her sisters, Shirley Gachassin and Velma Romero both of New Iberia; 12 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Gautreaux, Sr.; her parents, Jean Arthur Dore and Elizabeth Hollier Dore; her brothers, Whitney,Paulica, Walter, Eddie and Larry Dore and her sister,Paula Legnon.

Pallbearers will be Travis Riddle, Clifton Gautreaux, III, E. J. Gautreaux, Jr., Robert Solar, Robbie Solar and Shawn Lirette.
