James Vincent

Lafayette - Funeral services for James P. Vincent, 62, wil be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 11:00AM at David Funeral Home Chapel of Lafayette with Deacon Richard Picard officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 11:00AM until 9:00PM and will resume on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 8:00AM until the time of services. A native of Erath and resident of Broussard, James died on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 5:00PM at his residence. James was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served his country in the Air Force, and went on to become a member of VFW Post 4158. He served on the presenting team of Worldwide Marriage Encounters for several years and was the former lector, eucharistic minister, and member of St. Joseph's Church in Milton, Holy Cross Church in Lafayette, and Sacred Heart Church in Broussard. He enjoyed working on his '67 Mustang and going to car shows, walking his "Jolie", fishing, watching rodeos, and watching his favorite tv shows Frasier and Cheers. Above all else, he was devoted to his family and friends, and was always offering a joke and helping hand to anyone. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Dianne Choplin Vincent of Broussard; his daughter, Kristen Vincent Floth of Spokane, WA; a son, Christian Miller and his wife Nannette of Eunice; a grandaughter, Ashleigh Floth of Spokane, WA; a grandson, Justin Vincent of Lafayette; three brothers, Murphy Vincent of Erath, Carson Vincent of Butler,OH, and Tommy Vincent of Erath; three sisters, Delsey Perrin of Lafayette, Diana Callahan of Abbeville, and Jeanette Miguez of Delcambre. He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie Vincent Sr. and Pamela Norris Vincent; three brothers, Freddie Vincent Jr., L.J. Vincent, and Roland Vincent; and two sisters, Mayful Hebert and Lovenia Barker. James fought a courageous battle without complaining once. He deeply appreciated all of his caretakers, especially most recently the 6th Floor Nursing Staff of UMC, his special Hospice Nurse Jenny and Dr. Glen Mire. Many thanks to all of his family, friends and neighbors who unselfishly gave time and energy toward his well being. Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Acadiana. A gathering of friends and family will be welcomed at his residence at 105 Brownfield Drive, Broussard after services. David Funeral Home of Lafayette (337)837-9887 will be in charge of handling arrangements.
