Rynella- Funeral services will be conducted for Lester Joseph Landry, Age 81, at 11:00AM Friday May 29, 2009 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church with Fr. Donovan Labbe officiating. Interment will follow in Broussard Cemetery in Bayou Petit Anse. Visitation will be Thursday May 28, 2009 at 10:00AM until 10:00PM with recitation of a Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Friday May 29, 2009 at 8:00AM until service time. Military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 1982.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Landry died at 3:30PM in a New Iberia Health Care Facility. He was a veteran of the Army/Air Corps and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Plattsmier Landry of New Iberia; sons, Alvin J. Landry and wife Sharon, Leslie J. Landry; daughter, Marnell L. Lapeyrouse and husband Jimmy, all of New Iberia; one brother, Preston Landry and wife Sandy of Metairie; one sister, Janet Kaufman and husband Michael of Purvis, MS.; grandchildren, Richard Landry and wife Jodi, Carey Landry, Kellie L. Broussard and husband Chris, Auman J. Landry, Leia L. Doucet and husband Scott, Kevin Hotard and wife Nancy, Denise Trahan and husband Eddie, and Corey Hotard; great-grandchildren, Tiffani and Chase Landry; Noah, Gabe, and Evan Hotard; Caleb, Kohl, Saul and Ashton Trahan.
Mr. Landry was preceded in death by his parents, Clodias Landry and Lydia Weekley;one son, Peter Landry;brothers, Junius, Harry, Anthony, U.J. Paul, and Doris Landry; sisters, Shirley L. Guidry, Eva L. Dugas, Mary Lee L. Derouen, Madrin L. Treadaway, and Nerlina L. Quebodeaux.
Pallbearers will be family and friends of Mr. Landry.
