Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Leroy LeBlanc, 89, at 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Austin Leger officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at David Funeral Home of Erath from 3:00PM until 8:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 7:00PM and will resume on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 8:00AM until service time. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites performed by the members of Derouen-Moss American Legion Post 279. A native of Henry and resident of Erath, Mr. Leroy passed away at 4:20PM on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at a local healthcare facility. He was a barber in Erath for many years. He was an active member and past Post Commander of the American Legion Post 279, a past member of the Knights of Columbus in Erath and he retired from the Police Jury. He was also a World War II Veteran. Mr. Leroy was a fun-loving and friendly man who loved cooking for his family and the Police Jury. He was fondly known as Beagle to his friends. He is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia Daigle and husband Ira of Erath and Trudie Broussard and husband Michael of Abbeville; three granddaughters, Melissa LeBlanc and husband Neal of Erath, Mandy Daigle of Broussard and Jennifer Broussard of Abbeville; one grandson, Justin Broussard and wife Melanie of Lafayette; two great-grandsons, Braden LeBlanc of Erath and Clayton Broussard of Lafayette; one brother, Clifford LeBlanc and wife Thelma of Abbeville; and one sister, Alfreda Ally of Harvey. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Irene Pullin LeBlanc; and his parents, Heard and Elisma Hulin LeBlanc. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Broussard, Lonnie Malcomb, Lance Malcomb, Barry Malcomb, Raleigh Mayard, Lambert Pullin, Berle Pullin, Dr. Glenn Ally, Steve Hulin, Fabian Hulin and Russell Suire. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Braden LeBlanc and Clayton Broussard. The family would like to offer thanks to all his caregivers throughout the years, with a special thanks to the staff of East Ridge Nursing Home, Hospice of Acadiana and Dr. John Thibodeaux.
