Lafayette - Dorothy Jean Hullderman, 81, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009, surrounded with love, in Lafayette, LA with her family after a long illness. Dorothy was born outside of Fairmont, WV in Gypsy at home. She was the younger of two children born to Arlie and Carrie (Ice) Heldreth. She was preceeded in death by her mother, father, sister, Betty Lockhart and husband Ernest Floyd Hullderman. She graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1946. She worked at the 5&10, sold war bonds, baby sat, Sears and Whiteball Nursery School for thirty years, where she made a big impact on teachers and students. She was admired for her loving heart, kindness and a friendly smile. She was an active member of the Whitehall Church of Christ in Fairmont, WV and Riverside Church of Christ in Lafayette. She and her husband of 61 years raised two daughters; Nancy Lee Johnson and her husband Harry of Oceanside, CA and Shirley Jean Blakemore and her husband Bruce William of Broussard, LA. She has three grandchildren; Jeanne Ann Horner and her husband Andrew of Katy, TX, Jason Bruce Blakemore and his wife Karen of Keller, TX and Amanda Lee Johnson of Hershey, PA. She has three great grandchildren; Hannah Jean Horner of Katy, TX, Andrew Bruce Horner of Katy, TX and Emily Marie Blakemore Keller, TX. She resided at Route 250 until her health forced her to move in with her daughter and son in law where she resided for the last four and a half years. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great granchildren. A Celebration of life will be held at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home on June 13, 2009, for her many friends and family, Services will be conducted by Mr. Bruce Blakemore. Her love of people is reminiscent of these words: Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever, the same.
