George, a native of Erath, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family. Until recently, George could be heard whistling a tune outside while taking care of his huge vegetable garden and mowing his lawn. A devoted New York Yankee fan, George could be found watching his Yankees from opening day until the end of the season. He loved to travel in his motor home, and at 75 years old, he drove his motor home for a ninety-day excursion to Alaska with his family. Also, he enjoyed dancing and listening to music especially from the Big Band Era. On many days, he could be found fishing at the pond with his son-in-law, Eddie. His zest for life and his happy-go-lucky demeanor will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. After retiring from Texaco, he began selling insurance for AFLAC where he retired after 40 years of service. During the 1950s, George proudly served as Mayor of Erath. Recently, George was honored by being inducted into the Living Legends by the Erath Acadian Museum.
