A native of Loreauville and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Breaux died Tuesday June 8, 2010 at 3:30AM at his residence in New Iberia. Nookie was director of pharmacy for Dauterive hospital from 1969 until 1994 and was co-owner of L&M pharmacy. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, a 4th degree Knight of Columbus with Msgr. Langlois Assembly and a member of the New Iberia optimist club. Mr. Breaux was a graduate of Ole Miss School of Pharmacy in 1951. He was a member of the La. Pharmacist Assn. and the Teche Area Pharmacy Assn. and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Survivors include his wife Betty Savoy Breaux; children, Diane Breaux of New Iberia, Sheila B. Simon and husband William Bill of Lake Charles, Andrew Breaux and friend Ada Duhon, John Breaux and wife Margaret and Patricia Thompson and husband Rusty all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Cody Simon, Austin Breaux stationed with the U.S. Army in Iraq, Elliot and Jacob Thompson and Logan M.L. Breaux; a sister, Queever B. Broussard of New Iberia; caregiver, Carrie Jolet and a close family friend, Kathy Jolet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eve Broussard Breaux; a grandchild, Shelly Ann Simon and a brother, Albert T-Breaux Breaux.
Pallbearers will be Rusty, Elliott and Jacob Thompson, William Bill and Cody Simon and Logan M.L. Breaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Savitra Collins, Dailey Berard, Dr. Gerald Halphen, Dr. Eddie Lamparez, Dr. L.O. Broussard, Russell Berard, Dr. Roy Landry, Stephen Palumbo, Korey Inzerella, Steven Jolet Dr. Burt Bujard, Bevers Mabry and Scotty Chambers.
Memorials are preferred to either St. Jude Childrens Hospital, the Catholic High Endowment fund or Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St. Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70503.
