Erath " A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date for Mr. Davie Matthew Toups, 56. A native and resident of Erath, Davie passed away at 10:34AM on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at a local hospital. Dave was a diesel mechanic by trade until he was forced into early retirement due to medical problems. Throughout his younger years he was involved in playing baseball and running track. He was also involved in scouting. As his boys grew, he remained very active in their sporting years; coaching little league and later a member of the Backers Club. He loved sports, hunting, and family and friend gatherings. Dave had friends where ever he went. He could turn a gloomy day into sunshine with his smile, sense of humor, or just that crazy look. He was a teaser, a joker, but the best darn listener, comforter you could ever meet. Dave had patience, kindness, and forgiveness for all. If he had any faults, it was that he sometimes was too kind, too forgiving, and too accepting. Davie will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Landry Toups of Erath; sons, Jarrod Toups and Matt Toups of Erath; grandchildren, Brianna and Jarron Toups of Kinder; sisters, Cheryl Kitty LeBlanc and her husband Jude, and Phyllis Toups of Abbeville; brother Adam M. Toups and his wife Frances of Erath; and numerous nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Myrtice Moss Toups. David Funeral Home of Erath, 209 E. Putnam St., (337) 937-0405, is in charge of the arrangements.
