Jeanerette- Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Lawless Verret, the former, Rena Melancon, age 94, Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 1:00PM at David Funeral Home Chapel in Jeanerette with Fr. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 9:00AM until the time of service; with a recitation of the Rosary at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in St. Johns Cemetery. A native of St. Martin Parish and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Verret passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 9:40AM in a local health care facility. She enjoyed going to the casino, fishing, and spending time with her friends and family. Mrs. Verret is survived by her daughter, Hilda Buteaux and husband Joe; her sons, David Verret and wife Ella Mae, Pat Verret and wife Joyce, and Ray Verret and wife Betty, 2 sister-in-law's, Marjorie Guillotte and Helen Verret all of Jeanerette; 26 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Verret was preceded in death by her husband, Lawless Verret, her parents, Numa King Melancon and Marie Hebert Melancon, her daughter, Helen V. Buteau, her sons Chester Verret and Richard Verret, sisters, Lena Legnon, Doris Foco and Verna Hebert, one brother, Fred Porrier, grandsons, Wayne Buteau and Walter Verret and a granddaughter, Trudy Verret. Serving as pallbearers will be Wesley Verret, Brian Buteau, Patrick Verret, Joey Landry, Jr., Curt Verret, Dean Buteau and Steve Buteau.
