Loreauville- Memorial services will be conducted for Mrs. Francis Roy Monroe, the former Charmaine LaCour, age 66, on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 11:00AM at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
A native of New Orleans and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Monroe died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 4:15AM in a local hospital. Her hobbies included cross-stitching, bingo, gardening, sewing and caring for animals, especially her dog Abby. Mrs. Monroe was raised in New Orleans near the French Quarter and resided there for 35 years; her home and heart were always in New Orleans. Throughout her life she faced many challenges; in spite of these, she remained strong-willed with continued perseverance. Charmaines most cherished times were those spent with her family and friends.
Mrs. Monroe is survived by her sons, Garret Monroe and wife Kim of Loreauville and Craig Monroe and wife Melissa of Madisonville; sister, Brenda Gonzales and husband Hale of Slidell; granddaughter, Kassidy Monroe of Loreauville; nephews, Hale Gonzales and wife Libby of Baton Rouge and Kevin Gonzales of Slidell; great-nephews, Grant and Mason Gonzales, great-nieces, Morgan and Colby Gonzales, all of Baton Rouge; caregivers, Marjorie Moore and Wilma Mitchell, both of New Iberia.
Mrs. Monroe was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Francis Roy Monroe, her parents, Wilfred Andrew LaCour and Johanna EthelFalco LaCour, and her nephew, Will Gonzales.
