Broussard " A Mass of Christian Burial for Linus Joseph Mike Mier, 80, will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Edward Duhon officiating. Visitation was held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, June 20, 2011 from 3:00PM until 9:00PM with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 8:00AM until service time. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. A native of Bosco and resident of Broussard, Mike passed away at 1:00PM on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at his residence. He was a member of the Antique Car Club and the American Quarter Horse Association. He raised show and parade horses. He is survived by his companion, Gloria Perron of Lafayette; his daughter, Kim Mier Lapoint of Broussard; grandsons, Hunter Lapoint and Parker Lapoint; his nephew and godchild, Alan Dale Mier and wife Angie of Lafayette; step-children, Brent Lambert, Bridget Lambert, Vanessa Lambert Duhon and Allison DesOrmeaux LeBlanc and husband Wendell and their children, Tucker, Taylor and Brennan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Azama Creduer Mier; and his brother, Alvin Mier. Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter Lapoint, Parker Lapoint, Dale Mier, George Prejean, Jr., Hank Chaumont and Wendell LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Bernard, Colby Simon and Aaron Simon. The family would like to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice, especially Julie, Collette, Jill and Jennifer. Their sincere appreciation also goes out to Hank and Marie Chaumont for the loving care provided to Mike.
