Abbeville " Funeral Services for Mrs. Betty Jane Domingue, 73, will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Noah Langley officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, November 15, 2010 from 11:00AM until 9:00PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. A native and resident of Abbeville, Mrs. Domingue passed away at 2:20Am on Friday, November 12, 2010 at a local hospital. Mrs. Domingue was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister who dearly loved spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Domingue enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, genealogy, writing short stories on family and writing poems. Mrs. Domingue retired from the Vermilion Parish Sheriffs office, having served under Sheriffs Euda Delcambre and Ray LeMaire. She was the first woman Detective in the history of Vermilion Parish Sheriffs Office, investigating all crimes from telephone harassment to homicide. After six years of retirement, Mrs. Domingue worked as receptionist for Broussard and Broussard Law Firm, then at the Abbeville City Court for Ed Broussard, Attorney/City Judge. She was also know for her interest in doing what she could for the Veterans, compiling a book with pictures and information of Veterans from Vermilion Parish that is to be presented to a local museum by her children. Mrs. Betty was a member of the Louisiana Sherriffs Association, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #29, Charter member of the Erath Baptist Church, Charter member of the Citizens Flag Alliance, Paralyzed Veterans of America, honorary member of Boys Town, Cajun Culture Association, and the Graceland Cemetery Association. She is survived by her sons, John Coy Stephens, Jr. of Abbeville and Christopher Lynn Stephens and his spouse Robin of Erath; daughter, Cynthia Ann Gautreaux of Abbeville; brother, Neveal Domingue, Jr. of Abbeville; sister Marion Marie Davidson of Abbeville; twelve grandchildren, Caleb Stephens, Timothy Stephens and his spouse Victoria, Joshua Stephens, Jesse Stephens, Jeffery Stephens, Jeremy Stephens, Christina Stephens, Elizabeth Stephens, Priscilla Stubblefield and her spouse Jude, Dwayne Gautreaux, Lisa Gautreaux, and Noah LeBlanc; and 10 great grandchildren, Jake LeBlanc, Skye Romine, Landon Stubblefield, Sophie Stephens, Shyann Stephens, Scott Stephens, Conner Stubblefield, Jorgia Stephens, Ava Stephens, Joshua LeBlanc, Brittlyn Stubblefield, and Maya Touchet. She was preceded in death by sons, Lawrence Broussard, Jr., Calvin James Stephens, and infant Stephens; daughter Catherine Marie Stephens; sisters, Lydia Agnes Foster and Shirley Ann Koch; daughter-in-law Tanaya Lindley Stephens; and son-in-law Lewood Gautreaux. Serving as pallbearers will be Caleb Stephens, Timothy Stephens, Joshua Stephens, Steven Vice, Jr., Todd Hebert, Danny Bright. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffery Stephens and Jeremy Stephens.
