Leila Sue Hicks Galvez

New Iberia, La. - A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at David Funeral Home in New Iberia from 12:00 to 1:00 PM to celebrate the life of Mrs. Robert Galvez the former Leila Sue Hicks, Age 68, who passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at 11:05PM at her home in New Iberia. It was Sues wish to be cremated. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM at the David Funeral Home Chapel.

Sue was born on January 8, 1942 to Thomas Elton Hicks and Lilian McDonald Hicks in Tahoka, Texas. Sue passed away after a lifetime of love and laughter.

She lived her younger years in Louisiana where she met and married Robert Bob Arthur Galvez. The family moved to West Texas in 1980 and recently relocated back to Louisiana. She graduated from Franklin High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, sewing and making trips to the casinos.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lilian Hicks, and her oldest son, Marshal Huggy Galvez.

Sue will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her loving husband of 50 years and her five sons, Gary Galvez and his wife Jenny of Youngsville, Jason Galvez of New York, NY, Paul Galvez of Pampa, TX, Anthony Galvez and his wife Dolores of Providence, Rhode Island and Don Galvez of Youngsville. She is also survived by her grandson, Chris Galvez and his wife Chamaine of Youngsville, her granddaughter Courtney Galvez of Youngsville, her great-grandson Christian Galvez of Youngsville, and her daughter- in-law Jackie DuBois Galvez of Lafayette. Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers Tommy Hicks and his wife Barbara of Franklin, Mike Hicks and his wife Sue of Baton Rouge, Dan Hicks and his wife Debbie of Midland, TX and a sister Teresa Hicks of Midland, TX and a host of other family members and friends.

The family wishes to thank Heart of Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care given to Sue in her time of need.
