Erath - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Roland Joseph LeBlanc, 89, will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Leger officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 11:00AM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM Visitation will resume on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. A native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of Abbeville, Mr. LeBlanc passed away peacefully at the home where he was born on Saturday, February 12, 2011 surrounded by family. Roland was a loving father, grandfather,great grandfather and brother who enjoyed dancing, fishing, Cajun music, raising his animals, and spending time with family. Mr. LeBlanc proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by a son, Ronald LeBlanc and his wife Connie of Abbeville; three daughters, Sandra Green and her husband Nathaniel of California, Charlene Theriot and her husband Garrison of Erath, Lisa Foreman and her husband Larry of Erath; ten grandchildren,Darla Smith, Braden Smothers, Lauren Green, Christy Derise and her husband Karl, Jill Viator and her husband Nicholas, Brannon Meaux, Magion Falgout and her husband Reggie, Joshua LeBlanc, Lauren Gaubert and Nicholas Gaubert; five great grandchildren, Spence Suire, Tucker Derise, Slade Falgout, Ridge Viator, and Slone Falgout; three sisters, Gladys Fleming of Lafayette, Elaine Haynes of Port Arthur, Texas, Elcho Young of Alexandria; and two brothers, Al Sherman LeBlanc of Baton Rouge and Gene LeBlanc of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Joseph LeBlanc and Elva Stansbury LeBlanc; his wife Enila Langlinais LeBlanc; and one sister Opal LeBlanc Pickett. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua LeBlanc, Brannon Meaux, Nicholas Gaubert, Karl Derise, Nicholas Viator, and Reggie Falgout. The family wishes to acknowledge heartfelt thanks to a special granddaughter, Christy Derise, for all the care and love she gave to her PaPa during his illness. We would also like to express gratitude to his caregivers, Joyce and Clarence Bertrand, for the exceptional care given to our father during his last years with Alzheimer's disease.
