Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Donald J. Simon, 79, will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Erath on Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 1:00PM until 10:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum. Mr. Simon at native and resident of Erath died at 8:32PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Abbeville General Hospital. He was known for his love of going to the camp to hunt and fish; he also enjoyed cooking. After he retired he worked at Evangeline Downs and thoroughly enjoyed being around race horses. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margie Faulk Simon of Erath; two daughters, Debra S. Richard and her husband Benny of Erath and Donna S. Brumfield and her husband Keith of Lawton, OK; four Grandchildren, Benjie Richard, Brandy Richard, Brittany Richard, and Gina Brumfield Manka and her husband Jordan; and a great grandchild, Lenae Manka. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawless Connell and Eugenia Broussard Simon; and a brother, Russell Simon. Serving as pallbearers will be Benny Richard, Keith Brumfield, Wally Peltier, James Hargrave, Eugene Faulk, and Jordan Manka. David Funeral Home of Erath at 209 E.
