Loreauville-Funeral services will be conducted for Skye Michael Sonnier, age 30, Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11:00AM at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home-New Iberia on Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 1:00PM until 10:00PM with a recitation of a Rosary at 5:30PM. Visitation will resume Monday, March 14, 2011 from 8:00AM until the time of service.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Loreauville; Mr. Sonnier died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 6:00PM in Iberville Parish due to an oilfield work-related incident. Skye was a dedicated hard worker and an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, riding four wheelers, spending time at his Lake Fausse Point camp and creating memories with his family. Skyes most cherished moments were those spent with his daughter; his love for Ireland Mykel is one that will continue forever.

Mr. Sonnier is survived by his daughter, Ireland Mykel Sonnier of Loreauville; mother of his daughter, Haleigh McBride of New Iberia; his parents, Dina Champagne Sonnier and Teddy James Sonnier, brothers, Chase and Brance Sonnier, godchild, Cullen Sonnier and his mother Genee Broussard, all of Loreauville; maternal grandparents, Sylvia Miguez Tut Champagne and Lennette J. Bob Champagne of Loreauville; paternal grandfather, Jeffery Sonnier and companion Connie Purtle of New Iberia; paternal grandmother, Elaine Sonnier of Jefferson Island; uncles, Chad Champagne of Tampa, FL; Todd Sonnier and wife Donna, and Troy Sonnier, all of Jefferson Island; aunts, Lani Champagne Martin and husband Ty of Loreauville; Jana Champagne of Topeka, KS; and Lynl Champagne Eldridge of Loreauville, and numerous cousins and friends.

Mr. Sonnier was preceded in death by his uncle, Eric Champagne, paternal great-grandparents, Rita and Harry Babineaux and Louise and Romain Sonnier, maternal great-grandparents, Olite and Garcia Miguez and Madia and Juliam Champagne.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bannon Eldridge, Ryan Lagrange, Cal Hazelwood, Mike Cavanaugh, Chad Segura and Dustin Sonnier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chase, Brance and Cullen Sonnier.
