Loreauville- Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Pierre Gilbert Crochet, Sr., the former, Gertrude Chatagnier, age 76, Tuesday June 7, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Fr. Buddy Breaux officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday June 6, 2011 at 12:00pm until 10:00pm with recitation of the rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume Tuesday June 7, 2011 at 8:00am until service time.

A native and lifelong resident of Loreauville, Mrs. Crochet died Saturday June 4, 2011 at 12:28pm at her residence. Mrs. Crochet was a dedicated family woman; she had unending faith in her children and grandchildren. Mom Gert as she was affectionately known; always put family first. Her favorite pastimes included cooking meals for her family and spending time in her flower gardens.

Mrs. Crochet is survived by her daughters, Theresa Broussard of Coteau Holmes; Gail C. Robin and husband Danny of Loreauville; sons, Tommy J. Crochet, Sr. and wife Charlotte, Perry J. Crochet, Pierre G. Crochet, Jr., sisters, Rose Albert, Marie Neuville and husband J.O., brothers, Charlie Chatagnier, Sr. and wife Elaine, Jean Chatagnier, all of Loreauville; grandchildren, Terry Broussard and wife Lindsay of Cecilia; Crystal Melancon and husband Nicholas and Rocky Crochet, all of Breaux Bridge; Danielle Robin and fianc Ryan Champagne of Loreauville; Chantale Benoit and husband Neal, Michael Romero, Tommy Crochet, Jr., Lacey Crochet, Logan Melancon, Courtney Robin, Nicole Robin, Chassidy Melancon, all of Loreauville; Joshua Broussard and wife Josie and Jacob Broussard, all of Coteau Holmes; Brandy Breaux and husband Wilder, Gilbert Seleana, Ashley, Jennifer and Emma Crochet, all of New Iberia.

Mrs. Crochet was preceded in death by her husband, Pierre Gilbert Crochet, Sr., parents, Ozaire Chatagnier and Eula Landry Chataigner, son, Steve Crochet, daughter, Susan Melancon, son-in-laws, Larry Melancon and Joseph Broussard, Jr., brothers, Wade, George, Jules and Joseph Chatagnier, sisters, Eula Mae Olivier, Joyce Laviolette, Grace Robicheaux, Beverly Chatagnier, and grandson, Steve Crochet, Jr.

Serving as pallbearers will be Logan Melancon, Nicholas Melancon, Tommy Crochet, Jr., Terry Broussard, Wilder Breaux, Rocky Crochet, Neal Benoit and Jacob Broussard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gail Robin, Charlotte Lajaunie, Crystal R. Melancon, Danielle Robin, Chantale Benoit, Nicole Robin, Brandy Breaux, Theresa Broussard, Perry Crochet and Tommy Crochet, Sr.
