Elvar Joseph Trahan

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Elvar Joseph Pop Trahan, age 95, Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Fr. Barry Crochet officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday, October 8, 2010 from 3:00PM until 10:00PM with a recitation of a Rosary at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume Saturday from 8:00AM until service time.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Trahan passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 9:56AM in a local hospital. Mr. Trahan retired after 25 years with Trappeys Food Processing Company. Pop enjoyed fishing, was a true fan of the Atlanta Braves and loved to spend time with his family.

Mr. Trahan is survived by one daughter, Pearl Trahan of New Iberia; his brother, Eustache E.T. Trahan of New Iberia; his son-in-law, Jerry Gaudet and companion Betty Richard of Abbeville; his grandchildren, Calvin Gaudet of Abbeville, Debbie Gaudet Miguez of New Iberia, Richard Gaudet and wife Tonia of Humble, TX; his great grandchildren, Nicole McMullan and husband Keith, Kim Meyers and husband Brian, Holly Gary and husband Murphy, Shauna Estis, Laci Miguez, Matt Miguez and companion Heather, Jake Miguez, Brooks Gaudet Hebert, and Zachary Gaudet all of New Iberia, Alexis and Taryn Gaudet of Humble, TX.; Amber Gaudet and Mason Gaudet both of Arnaudville; and Tyler Gaudet of Texas; his great-great grandchildren, CJ Maturin, Nicholas Maturin, Mackenzie Maturin, Dusty Meyers, Abbey Meyers, Brayton Gary, Lane Estis, Londyn Bonin, Talyn Cooper, Kadyn Cooper, and Elleyana Miguez, all of New Iberia.

Mr. Trahan was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Elina Maturin Trahan, his parents, Leon Trahan and Onezima Boudoin Trahan, sisters, Evelie Maturin and Mary Louise Romero, and a grandson, Kern Gaudet.

Pallbearers will be Calvin Gaudet, Richard Gaudet, Matt Miguez, Jake Miguez, Keith McMullan and Brian Meyers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Zachary Gaudet, Dusty Meyers, Nicholas Maturin, Murphy Gary, Jr. and Brayton Gary.
