Lafayette- Funeral Services for Lila Shipp Garbarino, 83, will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, December 3, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Broussard with Reverend Albert Langley officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and will resume at 11:00AM on Friday, December 3, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Broussard until service time. Interment will follow services in Liberty Cemetery in Elton, LA. A native of Dallas,TX and a resident of Lafayette for the past 31 years, Mrs. Garbarino passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2010 at a local nursing home. After her children were grown, Lila went to work for the State of Louisiana as a Support Enforcement officer until her retirement in 1989. She was very active in her church where she taught Sunday School and Bible Study classes and was also a proud graduate of the Dallas Bible Institute in 1949. She enjoyed singing, piano playing and also spending time outdoors with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Reverend Medwyn D. Garbarino of Lafayette; her children, Daniel Garbarino and his wife Pamela of Ruston, Joy Garbarino Regan of her husband Edwin of West Monroe, Richard Garbarino and his wife Celeste of Houston, TX and Joseph Garbarino,Sr. and his wife Leigh of Lafayette; grandchildren, Daniel Garbarino, Jr., Ryan Kilpatrick, Kristin Stuart, Ross Garbarino, Jonathan Regan, Kerry Regan, Jeffrey Regan, Nicholas Garbarino, Andrew Garbarino, Katherine Garbarino, Joseph Garbarino, Jr.,Bennett Garbarino, Anne-Marie Garbarino, John Mark Garbarino, Thomas Garbarino and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Lee Shipp and Drusilla Foster Shipp and one daughter, Martha Garbarino. David Funeral Home of Lafayette, (337) 837-9887, 316 Youngsville Hwy.
