New Iberia " Funeral Services will be conducted for Donald Joseph Istre, Age 76, at 11:00AM Thursday December 2, 2010 at St. Peters Catholic Church with Father Charles Langlois officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday December 1, 2010 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Thursday from 8:00AM until service time. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Istres name to The Sisters of Mt. Carmel, 62284 Fish Hatchery Road, Lacombe, LA 70445. He died Tuesday November 30, 2010 at 8:34AM at his residence in New Iberia. A native of Morse and longtime resident of New Iberia Mr. Istre retired from Entex after 43 ½ years of service. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church. His greatest joy was being with his wife and family. They traveled extensively and he fulfilled his goal of seeing all 50 states. Mr. Don will always be remembered for his generous nature and cutting the grass for the Sisters of Mt. Carmel. He loved baseball especially the Yankees and the Cardinals, cooking for others, eating, going to the casino and playing with his great grandson, Graham. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara Robin Istre of New Iberia; children, Lee Ellen Price and husband Keith of New Iberia, Lyn Elizabeth Leger and husband Scott of New Iberia and Michael Robin Istre and wife Connie of Youngsville; a niece, Barbara Gary of Crowley; grandchildren, Rebecca and Cassie Price and Ethan and Logan Istre and a great grandson Graham Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Joseph Istre and Pauline Benoit Istre; two brothers, Sidney and Warren Istre and two sisters, Irene Comeaux and Mary Nell Harrington. Pallbearers will be Michael Istre, Keith Price, Scott Leger and Robin, Mark and Kent Myers. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Myers, Ethan and Logan Istre, Rebecca and Cassie Price, Graham Edwards, Don Poche and Lee Verret. David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter St. New Iberia, La.
