Rita Mae Badeaux Miguez

September 2, 1920 — January 31, 2011

New Iberia- Funeral services for Rita Badeaux Miguez, 90, will be held on Thursday February 3, 2011 at 2:00PM at the David Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Lyons officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 2, 2011 at 3:00PM until 10:00PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday February 3, 2011 at 8:00AM until the service time. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Rita Mae passed away Monday January 31, 2011 at 4:45AM at a healthcare facility in Jasper, TX. Mrs. Miguez was a resident of Jasper, TX. and a long time former resident of New Iberia. Maw Maw Far-Away, as she was affectionately known, enjoyed listening to music, especially cajun music. She also loved to dance and listen to her daughter play the accordion.

She is survived by her daughters; Sheila Purkey and husband Dan of Jasper, TX., Barbara Dugas of St. Martinville, and Betty Dugas of Texarkana, AR.; one brother, Henry Badeaux and wife Aulani of Waianae, Hawaii; numerous nieces and nephews, and five generations of grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Aldus and Jossette Langlinais Badeaux; longtime companion S.M. Darby; Husband Isaac Miguez; sisters, Leliah, Laurence, and Rena; and two brothers, Armand and Alton.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Edwin Vincent LeBlanc III, Nathan Melancon Sr., Patrick Melancon Sr., Darryl Melancon Sr., Lawrence Melancon Jr., Leland Melancon, Nathaniel James Melancon, and Daniel Purkey.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Bryce Melancon and Dan Purkey.
