Harold "Falla" Abshire

Lafayette " Graveside Services will be held at Lacassine Cemetery in Lacassine, Louisiana for Mr. Harold Falla Abshire, 71, on Monday, May 9, 2011. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM. Visitation will open at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh on Sunday, May 8, 2011 from 2:00PM until 8:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary by Glenda Dickerson at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM with the graveside service to follow. A native of Lacassine and resident of Lafayette, Mr. Abshire passed away at 6:42PM on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at a local hospital. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, bowling, swimming, playing cards and watching old science fiction movies. He is survived by his children, Russell W. Abshire of Broussard, Debbie Abshire Brown and husband Michael of Allen, TX, Carla Abshire Olivier of Church Point, LA, Dana Abshire Bell and husband Al of Port Arthur, TX, Alex John Abshire of Lafayette and Erik James Abshire of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren, Emily Stroderd Byrd and husband Will of The Woodlands, TX, Jacob C. Olivier of Church Point, LA, Anna Stroderd of Allen, TX, Cody Lee Bell and Macie Grace Bell, both of Port Arthur, TX; his brother, Gerald Abshire of Vidor, TX; niece, Sabrina Abshire of Texas; and nephew, Cisco Abshire of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Nettie Ardoin Abshire. David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Highway, (337) 837-9887, is in charge of the local arrangements.
