Joseph Howard Pommier

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:30 PM.

A native of Kaplan and a resident of Loreauville, Mr. Pommier died on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at 5:35 PM at his residence. He was the owner of Bayou Service Company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 4676 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and CFMA Les Cadiens de Teche Chapter. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy.

He is surivived by his wife Lauris Clark Pommier of Loreauville; his sons, Edward Pommier and his wife Virginia of Loreauville, Patrick Pommier and his wife Ginette of St. Martinville and Gilbert Pommier and his wife Ann of New Iberia; his daughter, Barbara P. David and her husband Michael of New Iberia; his step-son, John E. Broussard and his wife Betty of Lafayette; his step-daughter, Helen B. Boudreaux of Lafayette and his brother, Roy Pommier of Kaplan. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Simonet and Noela LeBlanc Pommier and his brothers, Luby, Wilson, Percy and Loicey Pommier.

His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
