New Iberia- Funeral services will conducted for Mrs. Preston Hulin, Jr., the former Helen Smith, age 65, Monday, January 17, 2011 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Jude Thierry officiating and Fr. Charles Langlois as Co-Celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 11:00am until 9:00pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume Monday, January 17, 2011 from 8:00am until service time.
A native of Columbia, MS and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Hulin died Friday, January 14, 2011 at 8:30am in a Lafayette hospital. Helen was an avid sports fan; she was a devote Duke Blue Devils Basketball fan, but her favorite team of all was the LSU Tigers. When Helen wasnt watching college sports, she enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Hulin will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Hulin is survived by her husband, Preston Hulin, Jr. of New Iberia; her son, Ricky Hulin and wife Mandy of Coteau; sister, Becky Boutte and husband Kernie of Broussard; brothers, Don Smith and wife Marlene of Jay, FL; Kenneth Smith and wife Dot of Equality, AL; Joe Smith and wife Elsie of Scott; and Snookie Smith of Alabama; grandchildren, Madison, Grace and Kate Hulin, all of Coteau; brother-in-law, Harold Hulin and wife Phyllis of New Iberia; nephews, Heath Hulin and wife Christina and Dusty Hulin and wife Joleigh, all of New Iberia; whom Mrs. Hulin was like a second mother to; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hulin was preceded in death by her parents, James Clifton Smith and Iva Maines Smith and her grandson, Austin Hulin.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dusty Hulin, Cliff Smith, Kevin Smith, Cody Boutte, Ed Broussard and Hal Boudreaux.
