New Iberia- Funeral services for Mrs. Gertie Leleux Ransonet Edler, age 86, will be held on Thursday May 19, 2011 at 2:00PM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Monsignor Richard Green officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will begin on Wednesday May 18, 2011 at 9:00AM until 10:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00AM until service time. A native of Crowley and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Edler passed away Monday May 16, 2011 at 12:10PM at a local healthcare facility with her loving family at her side. For 40 years, Ms. Gertie was a Cafeteria Manager for the Iberia Parish School Board. Survivors include her children, Tommy Ransonet Sr. and wife Moureen of New Iberia, and Sharon R. Deslatte and husband George Jr. of New Iberia; step-daughter Barbara Bouy of Jeanerette; step-sons, Terrel Edler and wife Virginia of New Iberia, and Timothy Edler and wife Becky of Loreauville; six grandchildren, Kim Ransonet and wife Courtney, April Ransonet Gary and husband Ricky, Tommy Ransonet Jr. and companion Montreen Badeaux, Dwight Ransonet and wife Nikki, George Deslatte III and wife Angela, and Kimberly Deslatte and Fiance Cody Lopez; nine great-grandchildren, Sabrina, Carson, Emily, Tommy III, and Logan Ransonet, Tristen, Lyndsey, and Mackenzie Gary, and Skylar Brannon; fourteen step grandchildren; and thirteen step great grandchildren; and one sister Mrs. Lavina Breaux of Abbeville. Mrs. Edler was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Ransonet; second husband, Eddie Edler Jr.; Parents, Theomine Leleux and Desica Granger Leleux; two brothers, Sidney Leleux and Odey Leleux; five sisters, Isame Maitre, Alida Ransonet, Marie Vice, Odile Dubois, and Gussie Meyers; two stepbrothers, Whitney Leleux and Leonce Granger; step daughters, Shirley Ransonet Dorsey and Bonnie Edler Oubre. Serving as pallbearers will be Kim Ransonet, Tommy Ransonet Jr., Dwight Ransonet, George Deslatte, Jr., George Deslatte III, and Cody Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ricky Gary, Carson Ransonet, and Tristen Gary.
