Erath- Funeral Services for Mr. Paul Dwight Brasseaux, 88, will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at David Funeral Home of Erath with Deacon Patrick Burke officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Friday, June 17, 2011 from 5:00PM until 10:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 9:00AM until the time of Service. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery in Erath. Mr. Brasseaux passed away at Abbeville General Hospital on Thursday, June 16, 2011. Dwight was a life- long resident of the Henry Community and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars . He was a veteran of World War II having served as a First Gunner during the Pacific Campaign. After leaving the military, he went to work for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries on January 1, 1953 where he remained for 51 ½ years. He retired as the employee with the longest recorded tenure on record with the State of Louisiana. He was well known for his love of cooking; enjoyed feeding everyone from his family to his friends and coworkers; was a cattleman, farmer and an avid vegetable gardener who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mildred Duhon Brasseaux; children, Karen B. Champagne, A. Dwight Boze Brasseaux and his wife Charlene, Katri Brasseaux, Donnelle Alsandor and Drusilla Hebert and her husband, John; grandchildren, Ross Champagne, Paul Champagne, Dwight Brasseaux, Jeremy Brasseaux, Eric Alsandor, Jude Alsandor, Jr. and Lauren Hebert; six great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Ledie Goutierrez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Rita Broussard Brasseaux; brothers, Ralph Brasseaux and Robert Bob Brasseaux; and one son-in-law, Jude Alsandor, Sr. Serving as pallbearers will be A. Dwight Boze Brasseaux, Paul Champagne, Dwight Brasseaux, Eric Alsandor, Jude Alsandor , Jr., and John Hebert. Honorary pallbearer will be Ross Champagne. The family would like to thank Miss Elsie for the extraordinary love and care she provided him and the Brasseaux family over the past years.
