Erath- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Nora Schexnayder Barras Labit, 98, at 11:00AM Thursday March 10, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre. Reverend Herb Bennerfield, Pastor of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral service. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath from 3:00PM until 9:00PM on Wednesday March 9, 2011 with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM and will resume at 8:00AM on Thursday March 10, 2011 until time of services. Interment will follow services in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Cemetery. A native and longtime resident of Erath, Mrs. Labit passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at Eastridge Nursing Home in Abbeville. She is survived by her son, Kerner Barras of Erath; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ickson Barras; second husband, Paul Judice, third husband, O.J. Labit; daughter, Elva Rita Latiolais; parents, Sidney Schexnayder and Lizzy Ory Schexnayder; sisters, Thelma Barras and Elise Landry and her brothers, Elie Schexnayder, Nick Schexnayder, Ralph Schexnayder, Collin Schexnayder , Joseph Schexnayder, and Sidney Schexnayder, Jr. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Timmy Barras, Tracy Barras, Ryan Barras, Robin Barras, Josh Barras and Derek Hernandez. Serving as Giftbearers are her great granddaughter; Drew Neviels and great grandsons; Drake Blanchard and Lucas Hernandez. Readers will be her granddaughters; Tina Barras and Twila Hernandez.
