Abbeville " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Rodney E. Simon, 84, will be held at 3:00PM on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Leger officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 8:30AM until the time of the services with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00AM. The interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum. A native of Kaplan and a resident of Erath Mr. Simon died at 2:00AM on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at a Lafayette hospital. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII; was the owner of Discount Tire Center Inc. for the past 42 years; a member of the Rotary Club; A member of the Knights of Columbus, having served a Grand Knight; one of the founding member of Century Swimming Pool; and a founding member of the Boys and Girls Club of Abbeville. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Domingues Simon of Erath; three daughters, Libby LeMaire and her husband Nolan of Abbeville, Kathy Hotard and her husband Brian of Erath, and Denise Davenport and her husband Charles of Erath; five grandchildren, Charise Bergeron, Michelle Hebert, Jan Richard, Chris LeMaire, and Ashley Vincent; and seventeen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lescar and Rena LeBlanc Simon; four brothers, Joseph Simon, Dalton Simon, Percy Simon, and Warren Simon; four sisters, Gladys Brignac, Mabel Chappuis, Rose Broussard, and Florine Colomb; and a granddaughter, Monique Sonnier. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris LeMaire, Jason Bergeron, Nolan Lemaire, Andre Sonnier, Charles Davenport, and Derek Hebert.
