Pearl Romero Halphen

April 27, 1925 — March 14, 2011

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Alvin Alfred Halphen, the former, Rita Pearl Romero, age 85, Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 11:00AM at David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Patrick Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin Friday, March 18, 2011 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of a rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 8:00AM until service time.

A native of New Iberia resident of Coteau, Mrs. Halphen died Monday, March 14, 2011 at 3:15PM at Meadowlake Estates in Oklahoma City, OK. Loving wife and mother, Mama Pearl was known for her steadfast devotion to her family, wonderful cooking and homemaking. We will miss her greatly, but know she is finally with the love of her life and at peace in the Kingdom of God.

Mrs. Halphen is survived by sons, Scott Halphen and wife Denise of Baton Rouge; and Ken Halphen and wife Terry of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Ken Halphen II and wife Leslie and Amber Sneller and husband Cory, all of Oklahoma City, OK; great-grandchildren, Jarred Halphen, Zoie Halphen, Riley Sneller and step-great-grandchild, Amberlee Sneller; sisters, Grace Romero of Coteau and Marian Olivier of Houston, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Halphen was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Alvin Alfred Halphen, infant daughter, Cheryl Rita Halphen, parents, Sylvan andAimee Derouen Romero, and brothers, Jack and Kenwood Romero.

Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to Wings of Hope or a charity of choice. The family especially wishes to thank the staffs of Iberia General Medical Centers Intensive Care Unit, Iberia Extended Care Hospital, Meadowlake Skilled Nursing Center and Allieve Hospice for their loving care given to Mrs. Halphen during her time of need.
